Behind the Project: Silverblack WOOL Campaign AW15

Starting off as a retoucher, Henrik Adamsen eventually quit his day job to become a professional fashion photographer.  We were lucky enough to get to know Henrik, the incredible artist behind the project, Silverblack WOOL Campaign AW15.  Find out why it wouldn’t be a bad idea to follow in Henrik’s footsteps, if you’re an aspiring artist.

Could you talk a little bit about how you started off as a photo retoucher and your development into a photographer?  What was that progression like?
It was actually a very long transition from being a retoucher in the mid 90s… Then moving to London and working there for a while as a retoucher, then AD-assistant / artworker, moving on into graphics design/ArtDirection, and somewhere in there I started shooting just for fun.  That then turned into something serious - so I kinda had to give up my day job. I just started getting too many jobs, that I either had to take days off to do, or to take care of them in the evening. In then end, it was the best decision I ever made - I highly recommend it!

This Week’s Most Appreciated Projects

Appreciations are a way to send genuine kudos to another creative professional on Behance. This is our community’s way of curating the network, so that the best projects gain the most exposure. Here’s a look at two of the most appreciated projects on Behance this week:

Fashion Photographer Dominik Tarabanski plays with diluted backgrounds, disappearing fabrics and unique movement in his recent photo story “Transitions.” See the full project here.

In Marcelo Schultz‘s new Behance project he shares a poster he designed for Harley Davidson as well as insight into his process with sketches and a ‘making of’ video - this is a great way to convey the way you work in an online portfolio! See the full project here.

Reynolds & Reyner  was asked to develop a new visual identity for a small Finnish company whose primary goal was to stand out against the competition. The design studio took this task to heart and went all out with playful package designs for the paint cans, editorial-style instructions and promo pieces that are mini works of art. Besides, who says paint cans can’t be beautiful? Check out the full project and a sneak peak into the studio’s process here.

Created for Serbian fashion magazine, FAAR, this collaborative project brings spring to life. Behance member Becha collaborated with fashion designer Ana Ljubinkovic to create a color pallet and fantastical set. He then manipulated each image digitally to collate a collage-like spread. Each image is as rich and layered as the next, check out the full series here.

“Private House” by Simonas Slucka is a digital rendering of sleek home with floor-to-ceiling windows and clean lines, surrounded by tons of greenery. Recently featured in our Architecture Gallery, you can see the full project here.

San Francisco’s Ferry Building, a culinary mecca for local farmers, chefs and artisans inspired this private label brand of gourmet Italian food. The innovative designs include smart details like a box for dried herbs and spices that also functions as a dispenser.
