In 2014, Sid Lee decided to reinvent their Bistro, a lunch service that offers healthy and affordable lunches to all of its employees. Initially, everyday, employees had to sign up for their lunch online, present themselves to the reception at 12pm to pay, and then wait in another line to get their lunches. This seemed far too complicated.
Working with Sid Lee Labs, a solution was found. RFID chip cards were given out to all employees, who could then load any number of lunches onto their card at any time.
While employees still had to sign up online (for logistical reasons), they now only had to wait in one single line. The chip cards, also linked to their online profiles, meant that the system automatically knew:
1. Their name
2. If they had reserved their lunch online
3. If they had paid
With 8 different card designs offered, as well as a system that recognized each user, the entire process was interactively tailored to each individual. This revamp essentially made things more fun, but also more user-friendly for everybody involved. Read Less
